Kentucky Derby Watch Party Recap – We Raised $7,000 for Father’s Club!

Jason Moxness has been a friend and supporter of Father’s Club for a while now. You may recall that we did a Porsches and Pancakes event in 2023 at his garage in De Soto, KS. He asked us to present to the Entrepreneur’s Alliance in 2024. It was time to do another event benefitting Father’s Club in 2025!

Every year, Jason and other friends in the Carriage Houses of Johnson County garage complex have a Kentucky Derby Watch Party to benefit a not-for-profit organization. This year, he wanted to make sure funds raised at the event would go to support the efforts of Father’s Club. We got things organized, got the word out, and on May 3^rd about 100 people showed up to watch the Kentucky Derby together!

Some of the highlights of the event included The Rub BBQ food truck, Mint Julep and Old-Fashioned signature cocktails, a live bourbon auction, a DJ and more. (The burnt ends sandwich and the pulled pork nachos were outstanding. Also, did you know you can buy Mint flavored simple syrup on Amazon.com for Mint Juleps?)

Spouses were invited and there was a great range of fun Derby hats on display.

We raised over $7,000 for Father’s Club!

There were lots of opportunities for people to donate to Father’s Club.

• Wrist bands covering food and drink were $20.
• There was a live bourbon auction with a 12-year Pappi Van Winkle (an incredibly hard to find bottle of bourbon, three different sizes of Eagle Rare, two bottles of Blanton’s and more.
• There was a bourbon bar with a nice range of selections, and a donation was welcome for each pour.

This was such a fun event… there is a good chance there will be a repeat of this in 2026. So if you missed this one, we will get the word out as soon as we know if there will be a 2^nd Annual Kentucky Derby Watch Party!
