Father’s Club Brings Muscle & Heart to Olathe East Theatre’s Grease
At Father’s Club, our dads are known for supporting student athletes, cheering from the sidelines, and stepping up at countless sports events — but this winter, they took on a new kind of challenge: bringing the magic of theatre to life. For the first time, Father’s Club proudly partnered with the Olathe East Theatre program to build the set for their production of Grease — and what an unforgettable experience it was.
While many of our volunteers are experts in pep rallies and athletic events, set building for a theatrical production was a new frontier. That didn’t slow our dads down. With tools in hand, creativity in mind, and plenty of teamwork, they tackled the construction of several major elements of the Grease stage set.
Walls, platforms, props, and scenic pieces that help transport audiences to Rydell High — each was carefully assembled and installed thanks to the dedication and craftsmanship of our volunteers. The result was not only a beautiful backdrop for the performance, but also a demonstration of how versatile and committed the Father’s Club community can be.
Building Bridges
This project was about more than just building a set; it was about building bridges between community groups and supporting students in new, meaningful ways. By stepping outside of our usual realm of athletics, our volunteers showed how much they value all student experiences — from the roar of the crowd at a baseball game to the hush of anticipation before the curtain rises.
Parents, theatre students, and faculty alike expressed deep appreciation for the time and energy invested by Father’s Club. Many theatre participants shared how inspiring it was to see dads from different walks of life come together to help bring their artistic vision to life.
The mission of Father’s Club is simple: connect, serve, and support. This event exemplified that mission in action. By offering our time, skills, and enthusiasm, we were able to make a lasting impact on a program that means so much to students and families. Whether it’s on the field, in the gym, or behind the curtain, Father’s Club stands ready to serve.
